Enterprise and Fraikin working in partnership

Mar 11, 2013

Enterprise has more than 40 years’ experience maintaining and improving the UK’s utility infrastructure on behalf of utility companies, and employs more than 13,000 people in 150 locations across the UK, providing a wide range of services.

Subsequently it needs a range of specialist vehicles for specific tasks that are operated efficiently and reliably, with minimal downtime for servicing and repairs in order to meet its own customers’ demanding specifications.

That is why it turned to Fraikin, the leading commercial fleet vehicle services company, which looks after a range of approaching 20,000 assets from vans to maximum weight trucks and including plant and machinery in the UK.

Fraikin has forged a true partnership with Enterprise in Ealing, London, supplying vehicles to the company, while Enterprise has become an authorised repair agent for Fraikin at the depot where the vehicles are based. The bulk of the vehicles – 30 Iveco single cab cage bodied tippers – are being used by Enterprise on a contract it has with Ealing Borough Council to provide street cleaning services. The remaining vehicles – 25 tippers (which comprise tool lockers) and two vans – are being used by Enterprise Managed Services on a grounds maintenance contract which it has with the same local authority.

The vehicles are primarily based at the Enterprise Ealing site in Greenford, London, where Enterprise has taken over workshops and is now supplying maintenance to Fraikin as an authorised repair agent.

Tony Ware, Major Accounts Manager at Fraikin, said: “Enterprise is both a customer and a supplier to Fraikin, which is working well for both parties, forging strong local relationships and working practices and effectively dealing with the on-going maintenance of this highly visible fleet.”

Fraikin won the contract on the back of a previous success with Enterprise: providing and maintaining a fleet of 27 specialist drain cleaning vehicles to help keep the UK’s private sewer network operating effectively.

Designed for use in urban areas, the vehicles were manufactured in Europe and are being used in a contract Enterprise won with United Utilities and Severn Trent.

The contract represented a capital investment of £4M by Fraikin, which also included the supply of full maintenance for three and a half years.

Fraikin offers total vehicle solutions, having the ability to advise companies on the design and capability of vehicles, fleet configuration, and compliance right through to ensuring the vehicle is fully maintained throughout a contract term. The company also operates its own 24-hour breakdown recovery service throughout the UK.
