Scotch Frost on ice with Fraikin

Scotch Frost of Glasgow Ltd has signed a five-year full service contract hire deal with Fraikin for the supply of three new trucks for use delivering fresh and frozen produce to the ethnic trade.

This latest delivery comprises two 7.5 tonne Iveco Eurocargos and one 26 tonne Mercedes-Benz Actros with a sleeper cab, each of which have been fitted with Gray & Adams dual compartment refrigerated bodies and Thermo King refrigeration equipment.

The vehicles will be in operation five days a week and are expected to cover up to 70,000 miles a year, distributing foodstuffs to outlets across Scotland and northern parts of England. They join four other trucks supplied by Fraikin over the past 12 months, including a mixture of Ivecos and DAFs.

"We began contract hiring our commercial vehicle fleet in 2001, although our relationship with Fraikin is still relatively young," explains Sandy Speirs, Operations Director.

"One of the main reasons for moving to Fraikin is that we now have just one point of contact, whereas with a manufacturer's own contract hire division we end up dealing with different people all the time."

"At least now, in the event of an emergency, I know exactly who to speak with to take the problem off my hands. Contract hire is not just about spreading the financial cost off ownership - it is about removing the hassle of running a transport fleet off our shoulders," he adds.

Fraikin's local branch is located just five minutes away from Scotch Frost's Glasgow branch, and all routine servicing work takes place out-of-hours, to ensure minimum disruption to the fleet.

The deal with Fraikin also includes collection and delivery of the vehicle to and from the branch, repair and maintenance, inspection, road fund licensing, tyres and full breakdown support.
