Fraikin has relocated its commercial vehicle service and rental branch in Bristol to a new site, in Station Road, Shirehampton, providing substantially larger premises.
The new branch is better suited to Fraikin’s ongoing requirements, having grown from a 2,000-strong fleet to one managing over 16,000 vehicles following its successful acquisition of Lex Transfleet’s Commercial Fleet Division in December 2005.
David Farbon, Commercial Director of Fraikin, explains: “Having a strong presence in Bristol is strategically very important to us, and our previous branch was not suited to the requirements of the company moving forward.
“If we’d started with a plain piece of paper we could hardly have designed a branch that was better suited to our business. It more than doubles our capacity in Bristol, and the additional facilities will enable us to provide a substantive improvement in our service offering,” he adds.

The site, which occupies the former headquarters of Municipal Hire Services, incorporates a modern 5,500 sq ft workshop with six drive-in vehicle bays featuring a mixture of pits and vehicle lifts, overhead cranes, rolling roads and a bunkered diesel storage facility.
Additional facilities include a separate area for preparing contract hire and rental vehicles prior to delivery to the customer, hard-standing ground for securely storing up to 50 commercial vehicles and a two storey office block providing a modern working environment for sales and administration staff.
A total of 15 staff will initially be employed at the site, all of whom have transferred from Fraikin’s previous facility in Third Way, Avonmouth. This number is expected to rise above 20 by the end of the year, as additional technicians and apprentices are recruited to manage the increased vehicle servicing demands.
