David Farbon, Commercial Director of Fraikin Ltd, has been appointed to the position of Vice Chairman of the Commercial Vehicle Committee of the British Vehicle Renting and Leasing Association (BVRLA).
Mr Farbon’s appointment is the start of a four year tenure, commencing immediately, which will see him hold the post of Committee Vice Chairman for 12 months, followed by two years as Chairman, and the fourth year as Vice Chairman.
He brings with him a wealth of experience in the contract hire and rental market, including fourteen years at Fraikin. In his current position, Mr Farbon played a leading role in the acquisition of Lex Transfleet’s Commercial Fleet Division in December 2005, which saw Fraikin grow into one of the three largest commercial vehicle fleet service providers in the UK.
“The BVRLA plays an important role in regulating a majority of the industry, lobbying the government and its agencies and providing valuable services and information to aid members in developing their businesses,” says David Farbon.
“I’ve been responsible for representing Fraikin at the BVRLA for a number of years and am looking forward to playing an even more active role in the association’s business,” he explains.
The BVRLA has nearly 800 members who between them run more than two and a half million vehicles and who buy more than 44 per cent of all new vehicles sold in the UK. In doing so, they spend in excess of £15.4 billion each year on vehicles and around a further £4 billion on support services.
In combined fleet sizes, BVRLA members represent more than 65 per cent of the commercial vehicle rental and leasing fleet, 85 per cent plus of the car rental fleet and over 95 per cent of the leasing and contract hire fleet.
