Fraikin places £12.5 million rental order
11 November 2006
Commercial vehicle fleet services provider Fraikin Ltd has placed orders for over £12.5 million worth of new rental vehicles, due to enter operation during the first half of 2007.
The order has been split between three major manufacturers – DAF, Iveco and Mercedes-Benz – and will see 327 new vans and trucks join the fleet, representing the single largest vehicle order ever placed by Fraikin in the UK. It will also mark the first Euro 4 rental vehicles to join the fleet, together with the first rental trucks to be fitted with digital tachographs.
John Ball, Chairman and Managing Director of Fraikin Ltd, explains: “This investment represents our objective to continue growing and developing Fraikin in the UK, following our acquisition of Lex Transfleet’s Commercial Fleet Division nearly 12 months ago.
“That deal saw our rental fleet more than quadruple in size overnight, as well as bringing the additional benefits of an expanded branch network which has opened up new opportunities across the country,” he adds.
The new delivery replaces older units in the company’s 1,438-strong rental fleet, which includes vehicles ranging from 3.5 tonne panel vans to 44 tonne tractor units, and a comprehensive selection of box, curtainside, dropside and refrigerated body combinations.
It includes a total of 25 light commercials, 202 medium weight rigids and 100 tractor units, with vehicles being spread across the Fraikin rental network, which includes dedicated sites in Aylesford, Bellshill, Bristol, Enfield, Glasgow, Leeds, Park Royal, Solent, Stoke-on-Trent, Swindon, Tamworth, Warrington, West Bromwich and Whitehaven. It also includes a central rental operation at the company’s Coventry-based headquarters servicing national customers.
