Fraikin follows dual EGR / SCR strategy for rental fleet

Fraikin has adopted a dual EGR / SCR strategy for its rental fleet, ensuring it has a vehicle solution to meet the needs of all operators.

A total of 325 new SCR-equipped Euro 4 vehicles have already been delivered during the first five months of 2007, with orders placed for an additional 580 rental vans and trucks which will enter operation throughout the remainder of the year.

This latest series of orders are being split between DAF, Isuzu, Iveco, MAN, Mercedes-Benz and Renault, incorporating a comprehensive mix of vehicles ranging from 3.5 tonne vans to 44 tonne tractor units.  It will also include a mix of rigids with box, curtainside, dropside and refrigerated bodies, together with the first 12 tonne rigids to join the Fraikin hire fleet.

John Ball, Chairman and Managing Director of Fraikin, explains:  “We’re investing heavily in our rental division to ensure it continues to remain one of the youngest hire fleets on the market.  These latest orders will ensure customers can choose between Euro 4 EGR and SCR vehicles, or a selection of 12-18 month old Euro 3 trucks with analogue tachographs.”

Fraikin’s combined rental orders for 2007 represents investment totalling nearly £20 million and will see an influx of over 900 new vans and trucks enter the company’s 1,500-strong rental fleet.

For customers hiring Euro 4 trucks which benefit from SCR technology, Fraikin is providing the first five litres of AdBlue free of charge.  This means for a typical week-long hire period, there will be no charge for AdBlue.

The new deliveries are being spread across the Fraikin rental network, which includes dedicated sites in Aylesford, Bellshill, Bristol, Enfield, Glasgow, Leeds, Park Royal, Solent, Stoke-on-Trent, Swindon, Tamworth, Warrington, West Bromwich and Whitehaven.  It also includes a central rental operation at the company’s Coventry-based headquarters serving national customers.
