Richard Flanagan, 38, has been appointed by Fraikin as Operations Manager for its flagship contract with premium next day delivery specialist City Link, to which Fraikin supplies a fleet of more than 420 tractor units and trailers on contract hire.
Based within Fraikin’s maintenance facility at the City Link hub in Wednesbury, Mr Flanagan is responsible for heading up a team of 20 staff dedicated to supporting the contract. He joins the company from Pullman Fleet Services, where he was responsible for managing three branches and heading up one of its largest contracts with Sainsbury’s.
Reporting directly to Keith Link, Operations Director at Fraikin, Mr Flanagan’s core objectives will be to secure Fraikin’s position as a leading supplier to City Link, which is one of Fraikin’s top five customers in the UK.
“It’s a very busy time for City Link as the team has been integrating the Target Express side of the business, which it acquired in November 2006. We’ve just delivered a fleet of 70 dry freight double-deck trailers to support the integration, and I look forward to being able to grow our involvement with City Link even further as the company continues to expand,” says Mr Flanagan.
Fraikin’s team in Wednesbury provides a 24-hour service Monday to Friday, with the majority of routine maintenance scheduled during the day. This minimises vehicle downtime at night – a time when the City Link fleet is most active, operating on long distance trunking routes across the UK.
