BREAKDOWN CENTRE CONTROLLER OPERATIONS

A vacancy has arisen for a Breakdown Centre Controller based in Central Midlands Depot. Reporting to the Breakdown
Centre Manager you will be required to ensure that vehicle breakdowns, defects and tyre incidents are managed on a
best cost, service level and quality basis and incidents are in the first instance fully evaluated before the appropriate
course of action is applied. You will be working in an office environment where you will provide technical support to
customers, both internal and external, over the telephone. Effective communication is a key to ensure vehicle issues
are resolved allowing our customers to be on the road as much as possible.

Key Accountabilities:
 Delivery of cost effective breakdown and tyre solutions to satisfy customer needs within Fraikin maintenance
budgets and agreed customer service KPIs.
 Adhere to all statutory requirement regarding fire, health, safety and hygiene.
 Participate in cross / multi skilled training within your department or other departments as deemed
appropriate by your Manager.
 Carry out any reasonable instruction as directed by a Manager [or Director]
 Deal with all internal and external customers in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
 Maintain a high level of dress and appearance at all times adhering to PPE where the role requires this
 Attend any training sessions as requested and adhere to all company regulations.
 From time to time you may be required to carry out duties outside the normal sphere of work as may be reasonably requested by Management.

 

 

 

 

To be successful in this role you will need:-

 Time served as an LGV technician and or workshop controller with an extensive knowledge of maintenance
standards for LGV and HGV vehicles, along with previous experience of breakdown and tyre management.

 The Job holder will have previous experience (or similar) within a high pressure control room environment dealing
with emergency and non-emergency vehicle assistance.

 Knowledge and understanding of supporting legal and legislation requirements related to the tyre and breakdown
incident management regulations e.g. PAS43

 An excellent communicator at all levels.  Preference would be given to candidates with prior exposure to P&L Management.

 Team player with excellent work ethic

 Driven to succeed.

SERVICE CENTRE CO-ORDINATOR FRAIKIN SERVICE CENTRE

A new vacancy has arisen for a FSC Co-ordinator in FM Sainsbury’s Team. Reporting into the Service Centre Team Leader the successful candidate will be required to communicate with both Customer and Supplier to ensure that vehicle downtime for all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance is managed on a best cost/quality basis. To ensure that such incidents are expedited in the fastest manner possible and the vehicle is returned to service without undue delay, in line with legal requirements and agreed KPI’s.

Key Accountabilities:
 Challenge all Suppliers at all times to ensure vehicle downtime is kept to an absolute minimum and costs are updated as soon as possible.
 Undertake regular communication to all Customers as work progresses through to completion.
 To maintain and distribute the customers dedicated spare fleet within set times.
 To plan and schedule all events including ancillary equipment.
 Liaison with Customer and Repairer to arrange suitable date/s for scheduled maintenance
 To ensure that all legal documentation is received and expedited accordingly.
 To ensure the Customer is informed of work progress with regards to scheduled and unscheduled vehicle maintenance.
 To be able to demonstrate that vehicle downtime is managed in a proactive manner in line with agreed Key Performance Indicators.
 When rechargeable work is carried out, ensure the relevant costs are accrued and coded as such and the Customer is informed making a note of the full name and full purchase order number whenever possible.
 Make sure the correct Supplier attends both breakdowns and defects with respect to faults covered by R&M/Warranty/Contract Maintenance etc.
 To ensure that either the external service provider or Fraikin attends the vehicle distress incident within agreed timescales

 

To be successful in this role you will need:-

 Good standard of Education with a minimum of GCSE Maths and English or equivalent

 Preferably have previous experience (or similar) within a busy maintenance control room environment dealing with scheduling/maintenance of commercial rental/ Fleet Management vehicles with third party suppliers.

 Knowledge of and a background from the commercial vehicle transport industry would be advantageous.

 Good understanding of vehicle engineering and road transport law.

 I.T literate.

 Will work best on their own initiative and take pride in ensuring that work is seen through to completion.

  Flexible in attitude, and ability to provide solutions to problems.

 Able to interact confidently with customers, suppliers, be a team player, and build credibility with same

Maintenance Technicians in Bristol ENGINEERING

Vacancies have arisen for skilled Maintenance Technicians based at our Bristol depot. Reporting to the Operations Manager you will be required to carry out service, inspection and repair work to a range of commercial vehicles in line with legal and company’s standards.

Key Accountabilities:
a) Defect and Maintenance Work – Planned Maintenance
 Carry out Preventative Maintenance on HGV & LGV vehicles in accordance with Customer & Company policies, DVSA standards, in a timely manner to fulfil contractual requirements.
 Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical defects on all vehicles and related ancillary equipment in compliance with Company and legislative requirements.
 Utilise company diagnostic IT equipment to quickly identify the vehicle issues and speed up the response to resolve.
b) Inspection
 Undertake an inspection, in line with manufacturer and industry guidelines to ensure the appropriate levels of inspection standards are achieved.
c) Vehicle Documentation – Repair
 To ensure that all necessary vehicle documentation is produced in a timely manner and provided to the workshop office as necessary
 Complete all Legal documentation inc. service sheets upon the immediate completion of the service being carried out.
 Ensure all parts used and labour time spent is clearly identified to ensure we are billing customers correctly.
d) Health, Safety and Environment
 Understand and fully comply with all Health and Safety policies and practices in place at the location at which work is being carried out.
 Ensure that at all times the correct PPE is worn and in a usable condition.
 Be aware and follow all Environmental guidelines in relation to the work being carried out in the location to ensure policy guidelines are maintained.
e) Communication
 Ensure that all stakeholders are kept up to date with the progress of any jobs being worked on, including at then handover of job completion and shift change over.
 Ensure all paperwork produced is legible and accurate to ensure vehicle status and condition is clearly communicated.
f) Quality Standards
 To ensure that you are aware of and working in line with the companies Quality Policies and Procedures
 Undertake activities as required to ensure that all corrective actions which are identified as part of the Quality Standards are completed in a timely manner.

 

To be successful in this role you will need 

Knowledge
Excellent knowledge of commercial vehicle engineering with an appropriate qualification i.e.
City & Guilds Level 3, IMI Level 3 etc.
 Prior knowledge of diagnostic systems (TEXA, STAR, EASY, DAVY)
 Maths and English at GCSE level C or greater (Or equivalent)

Skills
 Full and Clean UK Driving License (Class C1+E preferred but not essential)
 Strong communication and negotiation skills

Experience
 Time Served in a previous role with over 2 years post apprenticeship (5 years in total)
 Experience of working with ECAS, ABS, EBS braking systems
 Can demonstrate a flexible approach to new methods and improved systems

Maintenance Technicians in Coventry ENGINEERING

Vacancies have arisen for Maintenance Technicians based out of our Central Midlands depot. Reporting to the Operations Manager you will be required to carry out service, inspection and repair work on company and contract vehicles ranging from 3.5t to HGV.

Key Accountabilities:
 Carry out service’s, inspection’s and MOT’s to company / customer vehicles to VOSA standards.
 Carry out maintenance work on Tractor units and Double deck trailers.
 Attend breakdowns at the “Hub” or Roadside.
 Identify and advise the foreman of any additional work required.
 Ensure the work undertaken is completed in a timely manner and in accordance with instructions.
 Ensure workshop resources are used in a safe manner.
 Adhere to Health, Safety and Environment guidelines.
 Accurate and detailed completion of all relevant paperwork.
 Endeavour to reduce vehicle down time to a minimum.
 Carry out any other relevant duties as instructed by Workshop Controller.

 

To be successful in this role you will need to be/have:

 City & Guilds or equivalent in HGV Motor Vehicle Maintenance

 Full and Clean UK Driving License (Class C1+E preferred but not essential)

 The ability to work as part of a team or own your own

 The ability to learn & adapt to working on specialist vehicles

 The ability to communicate effectively with customers at breakdowns

 Knowledge of all H S & E regulations.
