Scotland’s largest commercial laundry and textile rental company, Fishers, has taken delivery of 21 new 15-tonne trucks on full-service contract hire from Fraikin, completing a two-year project that has seen its entire commercial fleet transition to the mobility solutions provider.

Backed by a six-year contract hire agreement, the new rigids – which feature box bodies with side access slide doors and rear tail lifts – join a 60-strong fleet that includes similar spec 7.5- and 18-tonners. Since 2023, Fraikin has been replacing and updating vehicles that were originally part of a sale and leaseback deal.

Lucy Renaut, Group Finance Director at Fishers, says: “Our decision to work with Fraikin was driven by a need to find a partner that understood, and could react to, the operational demands of our business, beyond simply supplying new vehicles.

“From maintenance and compliance, to roadside assistance or vehicle tracking and monitoring, their proactive approach, 24/7 support and use of cutting-edge technology has revitalised our fleet, giving us total peace of mind across our whole operation.”

Every new vehicle benefits from Fraikin’s full suite of MYSMARTFLEET connected technologies, which includes real-time data and analysis on metrics such as distance travelled, fuel efficiency and driver behaviour, coupled with a comprehensive 360-degree camera setup. With the company’s maintenance portal, FRAIKinVIEW, Fishers can also access accurate predictive maintenance scheduling, with the ability to monitor and track all work as it’s carried out.

Through contract hire, Fraikin provides Fishers with a comprehensive support structure, covering all servicing, repairs, road fund licencing, regular safety inspections, annual MOT testing, tyre management, and 24/7, 365 customer care – creating a full-service offering that guarantees total coverage.

In addition, Fraikin’s agile mobile maintenance network can deliver both on-site and roadside servicing and repairs, helping to minimise downtime. Backed by a team of skilled Mobile Technicians, operating fully equipped specialist vans, Fishers benefits from faster response times, reduced disruption, and greater confidence in fleet reliability and compliance.

John Cooper, Business Development Manager at Fraikin, says: “Completing this latest delivery is a significant milestone in our work with Fishers. Our role has been to make this transition as seamless as possible, while also providing consistent support and proactive monitoring. We look forward to building on this great relationship in the years ahead.”

Operating seven days a week, Fishers transports laundry to and from the company’s five sites in Coatbridge, Livingston, Newcastle, Perth and Cupar to hospitality, industry, healthcare and cleanroom businesses, processing up to two million items weekly.
