Following a recommendation from an existing Fraikin customer, family-run independent glass supplier, Clayton Glass, has signed its first-ever contract hire deal with the commercial fleet and mobility services provider, taking delivery of three new 18-tonne rigids.

The 4×2 curtainside trucks replace existing vehicles in the fleet and join on a six-year, full-service contract hire agreement, which includes Fraikin’s powerful MYSMARTFLEET digital platform. Part of an operation that processes 25,000 tonnes of glass and completes 30,000 deliveries across the UK each year, the new 18-tonners will operate nationwide.

Jonathan Bryan, Group Logistics Manager, Clayton Glass, says: “We were really impressed by Fraikin’s professionalism and how quickly its team built a deep understanding of our operational needs. From our first conversation the whole process has been simple and straightforward.

“Hearing from another business on their positive experience with Fraikin gave us the confidence in both the service and support they can offer. With their industry expertise behind us, we don’t need to worry about these trucks, we can simply focus on our core business.”

Fraikin’s full-service contract hire package includes comprehensive servicing, repairs, road fund licensing, regular safety inspections, annual MOT testing, tyre management, roadside assistance, and 24/7, 365 customer service support – all designed to give customers like Clayton Glass total peace of mind and complete clarity on its fleet-related costs.

Both vehicles are equipped with Fraikin’s MYSMARTFLEET platform, which offers data-driven driver behaviour analysis and safety features such as instant crash alerts. In addition, the system provides dedicated compliance support, with digital tachograph downloads and interactive driver walkaround checks.

Clayton Glass can also access Fraikin’s user-friendly online web portal, FRAIKinVIEW, which provides a complete overview of all scheduled maintenance work, with the ability to track and monitor all progress in real-time.

John Cooper, Business Development Manager at Fraikin, says: “This agreement is a perfect demonstration of Fraikin’s ability to quickly respond to both existing and new customers’ needs. Now that we’re working together, we’re committed to supporting Clayton Glass’s fleet with reliable, tailored solutions.”

Founded in 1956, Clayton Glass is one of the UK’s largest and oldest independent glass producers, operating from facilities in Bellshill, Durham, Nottingham, Blackburn, Canterbury, Dewsbury and Swindon.
